Harry Potter is growing too big for his Hogwarts robes apparently. Actor Daniel Radcliffe has agreed to portray stable boy Alan Strang in a London West End production of Equus.

The role will be a huge departure from the Harry Potter universe as the story follows the psychological breakdown of Strang after he blinds six horses with a metal spike. In one scene, Strang reaches sexual ecstasy while riding a horse naked. The play was adapted into a 1977 film starring Richard Burton.

In a twist of some sorts, Richard Griffiths has been cast as the psychiatrist who treats Strang. Griffiths has appeared in several Harry Potter movies portraying Harry's mean Uncle Vernon.

Daniel Radcliffe is currently filming Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth film in the series, set for a July 13, 2007 release.
