Sony Pictures has released another teaser photo from the upcoming Spider-Man 3. The pic features a hunched-over Spidey in a black costume. Yes, that's right a black costume.

Here's the caption that Sony included with the shot: "You may think you're looking at a black and white photo. Look closely, Spider-Man wears a black suit in Spider-Man 3. Tobey Maguire returns in the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man 3 coming May 2007."

This photo seems to confirm the rumors that Spider-Man's black, alien costume is featured in the film. The current Internet buzz is that the alien suit, along with the Eddie Brock character (apparently played by Topher Grace), is introduced in this film leading up to a showdown with Venom in the fourth installment.

In the comic book, Peter Parker acquires an alien symbiote during an intergalactic battle. Back on Earth, Spidey gets quite used to his new self-repairing, self-dressing suit until it starts influencing his decisions -- and not for the better. The black symbiote finally takes over Spidey-hater Eddie Brock to become evil Venom. (A good, animated take on this story arc can be seen in the DVD Spider-man: The Venom Saga.)

No word on how this storyline will play into the next film (or films), if at all. Spider-Man will also have to deal with Sandman and his pal Harry Osborn becoming the Green Goblin.

We will all have to endure 15 agonizing months until Spider-Man 3 is released to find out. Damn you, Sony!
