The results of our Oscar nomination predictions

In what seems like ages ago, we made our predictions for this year's Oscar nominees on Jan. 12. Turns out we weren't too far off when the nominations were officially announced last Tuesday.

There was only one category where we failed to name a nominee in our top ten choices. That was for Best Supporting Actress with Frances McDormand. We kind of forgot about her. (We still think Maria Bello got robbed of a nod in this category.)

Our scorecard went something like this: We picked all five nominees in the Best Actress race dead-on. We missed just one in both the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor categories when the Academy chose our number six pick instead. We had two strikes in each of the other categories. (What the hell were we thinking putting Peter Jackson down for Best Director?)

So, if you award 5 points for a correct number one prediction, 4 for a correct number two, and so on... We scored a 72 out of a possible 90 points. Not too shabby. We'll see if we can do better next year. Perhaps we'll even make it a contest for everyone to enter.
