Stifler's Mom gets Academy nod

Now there are five words I never thought would grace the headline of a news article.

Just when you thought the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the group that annually hands out Hollywood's most sought after statues - The Oscars, was nothing more than a bunch of stuffed shirts without a sense of humor, comes word today that Stifler's Mom has made the cut. Jennifer Coolidge is just one of 15 actors/actresses and 112 new potential members overall that the Academy has asked to join their ranks.

Jamie Foxx, Will Ferrell, Clive Owen, Zhang Ziyi and Gael Garcia Bernal are among the diverse group of actors asked to become voting members this year. Among the other groups, Pixar studio chairman and Mr. Apple computer himself Steve Jobs received an invite. Longtime Kevin Smith collaborator and producer Scott Mosier also earned the right to join Hollywood's most exclusive club.

New members will be welcomed into the organization at an invitation-only reception on Wednesday, September 21, at the Academy's Fairbanks Center for Motion Picture Study in Beverly Hills.
