For the first time ever, a Star Wars film has been rated PG-13. All the previous films in the saga have received a more family-friendly PG rating from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

Harry Knowles' Ain't It Cool News site is reporting that the MPAA has given Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith a PG-13 rating due to "sci-fi violence and some intense images." No official announcement has yet been made by the MPAA.

The rating should come as no surprise to George Lucas. He either sensed it in the Force or "had a bad feeling" as he theorized a PG-13 in comments made last month due to the dark and graphic nature of the final film.

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith will be released in theaters on May 19.
