Spacey, Bosworth land 'Superman' roles

Currently, they might play lovers on the silver screen in Beyond the Sea, but in Superman Returns Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth will only share their hatred for another. The venerable Spacey has been cast as Lex Luthor, Superman's arch-nemesis, while Bosworth is set to play the Man of Steel's love interest Lois Lane.

Newcomer Brandon Routh will be the man behind the glasses as Clark Kent and donning the cape as his alter ego Superman. Bryan Singer (X-Men movies, The Usual Suspects) has been tapped to direct the re-birth of the Warner Bros. franchise.

Superman Returns is currently aiming for a Summer 2006 release.
