Don't call me Madonna

The former material girl, formerly known as Madonna has ditched her materialistic ways and one-word name for another: Esther. Her new name is a reflection of her new Kabbalah influenced spirituality.

According to Esther, her new name is not just a different moniker, it refers to her re-birth as a better person. "I brought a lot of chaos to people's lives because of my selfish behavior. Even my children have to clean up their mess. Manners, thank you, please, take your dishes to the sink. I mean if it's traditional to be a decent human being, then I'm traditional."

Of course, her current tour is named the "re-Invention" tour, so this could be nothing more than a publicity stunt to sell tickets. Whatever the case, at least she changed her name to something that you can pronounce, unlike the artist formerly known as but back now for simplicity sake Prince.
