New baby is Apple of Gwyneth's eye

Gwyneth Paltrow gave birth to a baby girl in London on Friday. She and her husband, Chris Martin from rock band Coldplay, have named the baby Apple Blythe Alison Martin. The middle name of Blythe is in honor of Gwyneth's mother, actress Blythe Danner. Apple was anything but little, she weighed in at 9 pounds 11 ounces.

Mother and daughter are said to be doing fine. In a statement issued by Martin, it seems he is more than ecstatic. "We are 900 miles over the moon, and we'd like to thank everyone at the hospital who have looked after us amazingly," he said via a spokesperson.

Congrats to the proud parents and the fruit of their labors.
