'Matrix' sequels get early Oscar snub

It looks like the 'year of The Matrix' is getting one last reaity check before the page on the calendar turns. When the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced the nominees for Best Visual Effects today, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions were nowhere to be found on the list.

After receiving a lukewarm response from critics at best and underperforming slightly at the box office, it's not really much of a surprise that they failed to make the cut. The nominees include Terminator 3, Master & Commander, The Pirates Of The Caribbean, X2: X-Men United, The Hulk, The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King and Peter Pan.
