'16 Candles' going on '32'

You know somewhere Jay and Silent Bob are turning in their celluloid coffins with the news that John Hughes' characters from 1984's Sixteen Candles are checking in with a sequel. 32 Candles is slated as a made-for-TV movie set around main character Sam's 32nd birthday.

The events from the original movie followed Sam on her pivotal 16th birthday as her family became so wrapped up in her sister's wedding, they totally forgot her birthday. The sequel will udpate the lives of Sam, Ted and Long Duk Dong.

The movie is slated for release on the USA network, but there's no word as to any of the actors from the original movie reprising their roles. But fans can hope. It's not like Molly Ringwald had that much going on these days and Anthony Michael Hall has an agreement in place with USA for his new TV show, The Dead Zone.
