Steve Martin tries 'Pink' on for size

While many of Hollywood's finest have been circling this project for years, it appears that if Steve Martin wants it, he will step into Jacques Clouseau's trench coat. MGM's upcoming remake of 1964's The Pink Panther will feature Clouseau back on the trail of a jewel thief.

The new Pink Panther is being developed by Ivan Reitman, who was named to Arnold Schwarzenegger's gubernatorial transition team earlier this week. Earlier actors being considered for Clouseau were Mike Myers, Kevin Spacey and Chris Tucker. Peter Sellers played Clouseau in the original series of films.
