As you might imagine, as word of Ben and Jen's trip to a courthouse spread, it didn't take long for wild speculation to conclude that they secretly got married. While the official explanation is that the power couple went to the Liberty County, Georgia courthouse on Monday to seek a gun permit, the tabloids see it differently.

London's "Daily Express" is reporting that the gun permit story is a hoax to cover their top-secret wedding. In fact, the paper claims that the whole breakup story was a ruse to throw the media off their trail. According to the paper when it called to inquire if Ben and Jen had gotten a marriage license, an assistant at the courthouse replied "no marriage licenses were issued from this office today." But they may have struck gold when they asked if any couples had actually gotten married at the courthouse. The assistant giggled and refused to comment.
