Russell Crowe weds on his birthday

Russell Crowe's philandering days are over. Mr. Gladiator wed girlfriend Danielle Spencer in a small ceremony on his 800 acre Australian estate on Monday.

The man who was once as famous as Irishman Colin Farrell for his crude, womanizing behavior married on his 39th birthday. (Of course this makes it easier to remember those upcoming anniversaries.) The bride and groom were both decked out in fashions by designer Giorgio Armani, who also attended the event. Absent from the weekend-long festivities was an A list of celebrities. Gladiator director Ridley Scott was the only notable mentioned.

The couple met on the set of the 1990 Aussie film The Crossing. They dated off and on after that, with Russell's off period including flings with Meg Ryan and Nicole Kidman. Their relationship apparently became more serious in recent years . E! Online reported that Danielle had issued a "now or never" marriage ultimatum to Russell. Crowe responded with a proposal last November and a $100,000 diamond ring.
