Elektra Striking Out On Her Own?

It's not surprising, given the way that movie studios think, that today we're talking about another movie in the Daredevil franchise, the latest comic-turned-movie that garnered a whopping $45 million in its debut last weekend. But what might be surprising is that studio bosses are talking spin-off and not sequel.

The word around the campfire is that Fox execs are quickly getting their ducks in a row for a possible spin-off centered around the love interest, Elektra. Red hot Jennifer Garner seems to be up for it, "there is no ending to Elektra's story. There's talk of a spin-off and I'm open for it. As long as my stunt double is up for it, I'm up for it."

There's also rumors circling that a more traditional sequel is in the works and could potentially land indie/comic guru Kevin Smith, who appears ever so briefly in the original movie, as the lead writer. Smith, who wrote an amazing Daredevil run entitled 'Guardian Devil,' is no stranger to comics, having made Mallrats and owning a comic book store in Red Bank, New Jersey.
