With Attack Of The Clones debuting on video and DVD this week, the Star Wars rumors are circulating more than ever. The most interesting one concerns an alleged meeting that George Lucas had recently with the Cartoon Network.

According to various sources, Lucas and company pitched the Cartoon Network on an animated series detailing the Clone Wars. While details are scarce, it was confirmed that Lucas did present a pilot that was done in-house (suggesting that the series would be shot in CG animation). It also wasn't immediately known when the series would run on the Cartoon Network.

Another rumor flying around the Internet is that Episode III would take place 3 years following the end of Episode II as the Clone Wars were finishing. In other words, the Clone Wars are happening now in real time, so to speak. Talk about a great idea to tie in the animated series and some web content.

And finally, there are reports out of Italy that George Lucas has commissioned Ron Fricke to shoot images of the erupting Etna volcano. Speculation is that these images will be inserted in Episode III for a climatic lightsaber battle that leaves one of the combatants requiring the assistance of robotics to live.
