Val Kilmer To Star As Porn Legend John Holmes

Vastly underrated actor Val Kilmer will take on the role of porn legend John Holmes in Wonderland. The film, directed and co-written by James Cox, deals with Holmes and his young, male lover's involvement in the 1981 murders of four people.

Also in talks to appear in the film are Kate Bosworth, Lisa Kudrow, Christina Applegate, Josh Lucas and Kevin Pollak. Wonderland will be distributed by Lions Gate Films.

Kilmer was Cox's first choice for the role. Kilmer has previously turned in acclaimed performances of real-life characters, like Doc Holladay in Tombstone and Jim Morrison in The Doors. The character of Dirk Diggler in Boogie Nights was loosely based on John Holmes.
