Kevin Smith To Digitally Re-Create World Trade Center

Well, by now, you probably know that Kevin Smith's next movie, Jersey Girl, is his first departure from his fabled (and self-titled) View Askewniverse. No Jay And Silent Bob. No "R" rating. Fewer bodily humor jokes. Still plenty of Affleck, but a new face or two in J. Lo and Liv Tyler.

And if you've really been paying attention to my compulsive anal-retentive reports on everything Kevin Smith, you probably know that it's also a period piece set in the early '90s. In New Jersey. Right across the way from New York.

Well, it only makes sense, and yesterday Kevin confirmed on TechTV's Screensavers, that since the movie is set pre-9/11, they'll have to digitally re-insert the World Trade Center towers back into the New York skyline. While plenty of films have gone back after the tragic events of last September and digitally erased the towers, this will be the first film that will attempt to digitally re-insert them into the skyline.

Jersey Girl films in Philadelphia later this Summer. It's currently slated for a late 2003 theatrical release.
