Russell Crowe To Fight For 'The Alamo'

In a match made in Oscar heaven, director Ron Howard and actor Russell Crowe will reunite in The Alamo, scheduled to start filming on location in December. Crowe and Howard made "beautiful" Oscar music this past year with A Beautiful Mind.

The Alamo will strive to provide a more accurate, historical look at the battle for the famous fort than its predecessors. Not only will the Mexican perspective be highlighted, but the indiscretions of the U.S. fighters who lost their life (including Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett) will also be shown.

It was not immediately known which American hero Crowe would portray or who would fill out the ensemble cast.
