'King Kong' Next For Peter Jackson

After he finishes tinkering with his Hobbits, Elves and Orcs, director Peter Jackson will turn his attention to a different beast altogether. Rumors circulating Hollywood indicate that Jackson's camp and Universal are putting the final touches on a deal five years in the making to bring King Kong back to the big screen.

Initially, Universal balked at the idea, and Jackson went off and made those little Ring movies for New Line. Now, it seems that Universal is having second thoughts. No details have been uncovered, but it's thought that Jackson's incarnation of King Kong will follow a much darker path than the previous versions. As always, time will tell...
