In another move consistent with Disney's sports movie approach of late (see Remember The Titans and The Rookie), Disney has bought up the rights to "The Greatest Game Ever Played," a book written by Twin Peaks co-creator Mark Frost. The move comes hot on the heels of last week's announcement that Disney was planning to turn 1980's Lake Placid Miracle On Ice into a movie.

"The Greatest Game" is a golf story that revolves around the 1913 U.S. Open and its unlikely winner Francis Ouimet. The 19-year-old Ouimet was the first amateur to win the U.S. Open and had to overcome great adversity to accomplish his feat.
