Two-time Oscar -nominee Lee. J. Cobb (On the Waterfront, 12 Angry Men), stars as an elderly doctor working in the inner-city in DR. MAX. Dr. Max is a reserved doctor who chooses to work in Baltimore's inner city and minister to those far less fortunate. His concern for his patients and refusal to accept the comforts of a more lucrative practice causes friction within his family. The made-for-TV movie, which aired in April 1974, also stars Katherine Helmond ("Soap," "Who's the Boss"), Janet Ward (Night Moves), Robert Lipton (Bullitt) and David Sheiner ("The Fugitive," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.").
