Following the untimely death of his grandpa Gus (Jon Voight), thirteen-year-old Shaun disregards his parents' wishes and embarks upon a great journey into the wild with his dog Riley to spread grandpa's ashes from a remote mountaintop. Throughout the journey Shaun is guided by the spirit of his grandfather and together they overcome challenge after after challenge.
