FLYING (1953): Arthur Godfrey, the folksy TV superstar of his era, commemorates the 50th anniversary of powered flight by hosting this look-back at the history of aviation, and a look-ahead into its future. We see some of the earliest wood-and-canvas airplanes and meet Captain Eddie Rickenbacker, the WWI fighter ace and CEO of Eastern Air Lines. Godfrey, a pilot himself, gets in the captain's chair of an Eastern Air Lines Constellation and heads for the wild blue yonder--and demonstrates how the airliner remains aloft even with THREE of its four engines shut down.
AIRPORT AMERICA (1954): Airport America shows us the good that planes can do such as crop-dusting farmers' fields and fire-spotting in national forests.
SPECIAL DELIVERY (1946): Special Delivery spotlights the destructive capability of air power. A B-29 flying above Bikini Atoll drops a nuclear bomb, producing a hundred million degree blast heard 'round the world! --Tom Weaver
