- Tyne was married to Georg Stanford Brown until 1990. They have three daughters.
- Tyne's father is actor James Daly and her brother is actor Tim Daly.
- In 1991, Tyne was charged with drunk driving.
- She won a Tony in 1990 for her performance in "Gypsy."
- Tyne's big break came with her co-starring role in the 1980's series "Cagney & Lacey." The show broke boundaries as the first female police team and even more so when Tyne was a pregnant police officer.
- Tyne won four Emmy Awards for "Cagney & Lacey."
- Tyne earned another Emmy nomination in 2001 for her work on the television series "Judging Amy."
